Samir works as a Senior Research Associate for the institute. His work involves spatial and quantitative analysis for research projects at the institute. He provides mapping support for the institute’s ‘Communities of Opportunity’ framework. He has been the lead on a number of 'Opportunity Mapping' projects. He has also assisted other researchers at the Institute on mapping components of their research projects. He has been involved in data collection, maintenance and analysis for research projects covering a wide array of topics such as education, health, housing and other socila equity issues. He manages and maintains Kirwan Institute’s ESRI suite of GIS software. Before joining the institute, Samir worked as a GIS Intern with Dispatch Consumer Services and was teaching assistant for GIS courses at The Ohio State University. He was running his own architectural practice in India before coming to the U.S. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the department of City and Regional Planning (CRP) at OSU. He completed his masters in CRP in 2003. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Architecture from India in 1992.
