Marguerite Spencer is a senior researcher at the Kirwan Institute. She spent the previous six years at the Institute on Race & Poverty at the University of Minnesota Law School, where she specialized in education and housing integration, welfare reform, and disparities in the criminal justice system. Currently, she is working on white privilege and spirituality. Her most recently published work, Brown is not Brown and Educational Reform is Not Reform if Integration is Not a Goal, was co-authored with Prof. john a. powell. Marguerite is also adjunct lecturer in theology at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, where for the past fifteen years she has taught required courses as well as original courses in Theology and Public Discourse, and The Christian Faith and the Legal Profession. She received her J. D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and her A.M.R.S. degree from the University of Chicago Divinity School.
